Global cost benchmarking and parametric modelling

Opportunity
AECOM’s acquisition of Davis Langdon was made for the strategic intent of being able to share global benchmark data for construction costs. The application needed to be able to manage a global data collection process that would see cost plans being captured in 120 locations around the world.

Solution
UniPhi portfolio management software was used as the portfolio tool to capture cost plans created in a plethora of other cost estimating tools feed this data to a global data warehouse and then distribute the information through the web application and through an analysis services interface.

Results
Not only was the portfolio features of UniPhi utilised to capture the benchmark cost, the project management features are now being picked up by AECOM PMs to manage their projects.

Problem
In 2007, Davis Langdon expressed interest in deploying an enterprise-wide practice management system that would replace five existing disparate applications, as well as integrate with staff, accounting and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.


Solution
UniPhi replaced all 5 legacy systems and increased the Company’s capability in contract management, time management, issues and risks tracking, and change control.


Results
In 2011, Davis Langdon was acquired by AECOM and the value paid was greatly increased due to the success of the UniPhi deployment.

BlueScope Steel are a niche steel manufacturer that target value add steel products. This value add strategy is supported by a 120 strong R&D department. They needed a tool that would improve their project management of R&D projects, track time for tax reporting and assist in the prioritisation of the portfolio.


Solution
Utilise UniPhi’s prioritisation framework, issues management module and timesheeting system to create the transparency required to manage the R&D project portfolio as well as assist researchers progress their projects.


Results
BlueScope Steel were one of the first users of UniPhi back in 2005 and are still using it today to prioritise and track time on their R&D Portfolio.
