One such tool is UniPhi, our enterprise portfolio, programme and project management application. UniPhi is the evolution of 10 years of supporting organisations adopt managing by project. Originally, back in 1999, the business was launched off the back of a static web based intranet site of flowcharts and Microsoft Word and Excel based templates. In 2005, UniPhi emerged as an enterprise grade web application supporting the key elements of managing by project. In UniPhi version 5, the application now supports all elements of managing by project including:
- prioritisation frameworks to objectively rate projects
- cost benefit analysis and tracking
- net present value valuations
- portfolio transparency
- cross - functional communication
- contextualised filtering of individual's work portfolio, management portoflio and the organisation's portfolio of projects
In 2007, a sale to the professional services firm Davis Langdon led to the development of UniPhi's practice management functionality. Two key observations have led to the unique nature of UniPhi as a practice management application:
- a professional services firms contract with a client need be managed no differently to a sub-contract with a supplier
- a project's lifecycle should include pre-sale phases of opportunities, pre-submission and submission
These two observations means that UniPhi was easily adpated to manage internal project performance at Davis Langdon with stunning results.
